I've helped fund 0 hours of a research assistant’s time to work on life saving cancer research.

I'm taking on Cancer Council's The Longest Day...

The Longest Day is the ultimate golf challenge — traditionally taking on four rounds of golf in a single day!

Unfortunately, due to my condition, completing the full four rounds is not something I would realistically be able to do. Instead, I’m setting myself my own challenge: 36 holes of golf in one day.

I’ve chosen Friday, 6 November for my challenge, with a few backup days available in case circumstances or conditions make it impossible to complete on the day. I’ll be testing my strength and stamina both physically and non physically to raise funds for life-saving cancer research. So many Australians are affected by cancer, and I want to do my part to help change that by making every  round count.

This cause has particular meaning to me. I have NSCLC adenocarcinoma, which spread from my lung to the bone in my lower body. I have been fortunate that advances in cancer research have given me treatment options that would not have been available in the same way only a relatively short time ago. After radiotherapy, I have been able to continue treatment with targeted therapy, allowing me to live longer and although I am no way where used to be having constant challenges, I am still here to keep doing things like taking on this challenge.

That is why cancer research isn't something abstract to me — I am personally benefiting from advances in treatment made possible by research.

Please consider sponsoring my 36-hole challenge. The funds we raise for cancer research could help contribute to the next breakthrough in treatment, giving more people more options and, most importantly, more time.
Together, let's tee off with purpose (including team name).
