I've helped fund 22 hours of a research assistant’s time to work on life saving cancer research.

That's right, we're back!

This year we've built a superstar team to take on The Longest Day in a 3 ball Ambrose format, not your traditional 72 holes.

Teeing off at first light and finishing when there's no sun left.

When and where
Thursday 12 November at Mowbray Golf Club, where we're proud major sponsors. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see how the day unfolds.

Last year
Last year was our first time taking part in The Longest Day as AXJ Construction. We don't do things in halves, so taking on 90 holes instead of 72 felt right.

The day was one we won't forget. We started before sunrise with glow in the dark balls, finishing in the dark after more than 16 hours on course. We walked close to 50km, had nearly 900 swings, then pushed through some very sore bodies to get it done.

With the support of our subbies, suppliers, family and friends, we raised $10,050 for Cancer Council Tasmania. It was our first major fundraising effort as a business. It's given us a real drive to keep supporting causes like this.

This year we're shaking things up
It's a 3 ball Ambrose from sunrise to sunset, with two teams going head to head.

AXJ Construction + NB Media
NLA Painting + Jet Pressure Cleaning

Both teams are raising money for Cancer Council Tasmania. The team that raises the least donates an extra $600 at the end, so make sure you back the right side, the winning side.

Our goal is to beat last year's $10,050, because why can't we keep getting better?

Why we're choosing The Longest Day
Cancer is something that has had a direct impact on all of us.

Alex and Joby, AXJ Construction
For Alex and Joby, cancer has hit close to home.

Cancer rocked Alex's family in 2017, when his mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Two weeks later she was in for surgery, but she is one tough nut. After 7 long months of treatment and ongoing care through the Holman Clinic, she made a full recovery. She was officially discharged in 2023.

As Mum still says to this day, "It's not a nice subject to talk about, but it's real and a part of who we are. In some ways there's lots to be grateful for and learn from."

For Joby, cancer has affected close family and friends, some battles won, others lost. Being alongside loved ones through those moments has had a lasting impact. On the bright side, they've won enough battles to make cancer think twice about messing with his family again.

Nic, NB Media
I love golf, so any reason to get out and play while supporting a good cause, I'm all in. Cancer's touched my family like it has for most of us, so backing a day like this was an easy yes. It's a small way to give something back, helping chip away at something that's taken far too much from too many people.

Nick, NLA Painting
My mum passed away from cancer in 2022, so to say it's affected me and my family is an understatement. The more of us who come together to help fight this cause, the closer we get to a better future.

Kezra, Jet Pressure Cleaning
Instead of just playing a round, I'm playing with a purpose by taking on The Longest Day. Like so many, the people closest to me have seen the heavy toll cancer takes. Fighting it requires relentless endurance, which is exactly why this is a cause I can get behind. I'm pushing myself to raise critical funds, and every single dollar you chip in brings us one step closer to a cure.

Set us a challenge
Feel free to set us a challenge, or donate towards something you want to see us do on the day. We've also set our own rules, with each team paying for its own scores.

Hole in one, $500
Eagle, $50
Birdie, $5
Double bogey, $5

Come along for a few holes on the day if you can. We'd love the company to help get us through and really rev up the competition.

It's a cause that's very real for all of us, and most of you reading this. Whether it's $5 or $50, it all helps towards a future without cancer.

F**k cancer. Let's beat it.

1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85. We want to help change this by making every hole count.

If you've made it this far through our reason why, a big thank you, because tackling cancer takes all of us. Please sponsor the team you want to win.
