I'm taking on Cancer Council's The Longest Day...

As most of you will know, around this time 2 years ago, I was given the news that nobody ever wants to hear and was diagnosed with kidney cancer. A curveball that you can never prepare for but in my case I was fortunate enough to be diagnosed in the early stages. The decision was then made to have surgery to remove the tumour which meant having to remove the kidney being the safest option. 

 I am extremely fortunate that the surgery was a success and the proceeding scans and tests have shown no recurrence of cancer.

As I reflect on this challenging time, I can’t stress enough the importance to get checked if you know something isn’t quite right with your body. It could have been a different story if I didn’t get checked and sent for scans when I didn’t feel quite right.
