We're taking on Cancer Council's The Longest Day...

My name is Ben and I play in the AFL for North Melbourne FC.

Last year, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer twice; the first time in July 2021, and the second time in November 2021.

I was one of over 35,000 Victorians who are diagnosed with cancer every year.

When I’m not playing footy, I love to have a hit of golf with my friends, and my nanna, which I’ll be doing in December.

This summer, I’m taking on the ultimate golf challenge – The Longest Day – to raise much-needed funds for a cancer-free future

I’m taking part because I want everyone to listen to their body if something doesn’t feel right.

I want to encourage everyone that suspects something is not quite right with their body or health to be brave and speak to a health professional.

Participants of the golfing challenge can test themselves to The Long Day – 36 holes (two rounds); The Longer Day – 54 holes (three rounds), or the ultimate challenge The Longest Day – 72 holes (four rounds) from dawn to dusk.

The Longest Day will officially take place on Monday 12 December 2022, but participants can take part at any time during December or January.

With many clubs welcoming non-members, and some even waiving green fees for those taking on the challenge, it’s a great opportunity for Victorian golfers to get out and explore a new course and have a great time for a rewarding cause

By participating in The Longest Day, the ultimate golf endurance challenge – and by being SunSmart – you’re scoring a hole-in-one for life-saving research, prevention and support services for Victorians affected by cancer.

I’d like to encourage everyone including my fellow AFL players to step up to the tee and swing away for a worthwhile cause.

It’s exciting to know that every ball I hit and putt I sink will go towards a cancer-free future!
