Late curveball! 6 days to go

One of the great elements of The Longest Day is the flexibility it offers golfers. Royal Melbourne Golf Club told us the date would be December 19, while other clubs held it on December 12. What a great result this was for us given the poor weather yesterday and the excellent weather predicted for next Monday! 

But the main unintended benefit relates to Tom's injury, sustained while wicket-keeping on Saturday. His dislocated finger would have made it impossible to play golf two days later. Luckily, he now has nine days to recover and should be fine. The X-Ray looks bad - and it wasn't very nice - but thankfully it's been popped back into place and all is OK.

We are pleased to see we've sailed past the $10,000 mark and have set our sights on $12,500, which may include additional donations from us for every par and birdie we score. 

Tim is playing Thursday, Saturday and Sunday this week, while Tom is planning to test the finger out on Thursday morning.

Two weeks to go!

We've been heartened by the overwhelming support across the past week. Initially we thought we'd raise a couple off thousand dollars, but it quickly became clear how far and wide the generosity of our friends, colleagues and family extended. 

As a result, we've adjusted the goal to $10,000. Tim's golf is coming along nicely, but Tom is dealing with tennis elbow and will freshen up so he's fit for December 19.

An introduction...

Hi everyone,

On December 19, Tim and Tom Morris will be teeing off at 5.45am on the first of 72 holes for the day at Royal Melbourne. 

We have committed to The Longest Day as father and son in a bid to raise as much money as possible for The Cancer Council. The cause is  particularly close to our hearts at the moment, as it is for many Australians. 

Each year, almost 150,000 Aussies are diagnosed with cancer and our family is one of many currently grappling with the difficulties associated with the illness. 

The expectation is we will walk 40 kilometres on The Longest Day, play roughly 720 shots between us, and hopefully raise plenty of cash along the way. 

For every par Tom scores, he has pledged a further $10. For every birdie, he's pledged a further $50. A hole in one - which he has never had - will see him donate $1000. 

Any donations make a difference: $5, $10 etc. It doesn't matter. We appreciate all the help and support.
