I'm taking on Cancer Council's The Longest Day...
On January 9th I am going to embark on challenge in order to raise some money for the cancer council. Like most of us cancer has touched our lives. In my case my Dad passed away when he was 57 and in recent months my mum has has been battling cancer too. I have grandparents who have died of cancer and i also have cousins and an aunt all who are fighting cancer at the moment. Mum has received an unbelievable level of care during this period, so when an opportunity presented itself to get involved with a cancer based charity by doing something I love, well it was a no brainer.
So what is the challenge? It called the longest day and it is an official Cancel Council event. Fundamentally I will attempt to play 4 rounds of 18 holes of golf in one day and will walk as many of the holes as I can. Generally speaking a round of golf will take 3 to 4 hours and is approximately a 10km walk. I will tee off at around 5:30 am and play the four rounds of golf hopefully finishing before it gets dark at 7:30pm. I love my golf but this is not an 18 hole piss up on a Saturday. This will be a challenge!
