I'm taking on Cancer Council's The Longest Day...

A couple of years ago I took on the challenge and completed 72 holes of golf by myself in an effort to raise money for the Cancer Council... My motivation was that my Mum had just been diagnosed with and treated successfully for breast cancer. Before that, I  had lost a fellow musician and friend to pancreatic cancer FAR too young, and in more recent times I have had a close friend lose their father to cancer and another friend receive word that their father also has a very serious form of cancer and has consequently started treatment.

This story is all too familiar for so many of us. My hope is that by raising money, we can do more to raise awareness, improve treatments and provide better care for patients and their families when cancer strikes.

If you can spare ANYTHING at all and would like to support the cause, I'll be doing my bit, walking over 20km's chasing a little white ball for 72 holes of golf, all while thinking about how hard it must be for those going through life with a cancer diagnosis. No matter how tough it gets out there on course, it's nowhere near as bad as it is for them! And for those we have lost to cancer, I'll be remembering that I am incredibly privileged to be playing golf, healthy and capable.
