38 Days to go
Spent the last few days battling an ear infection . I think it impacted my balance and ability to hit the golf ball. I couldnt possibly suck at this sport right?!
Anyway will need to start practicing and excercising again. Still plenty of time to get good at golf and walk upstairs without weezing!
42 days to go
Nothing to report today.
Sat at my desk for 8 hours, then sat on the lounge for 5 hours.
43 days to go - the 70th
So today i woke up a bit foggy after my training yesterday.
Went to an all you can each chinese lunch for the Father in Laws 70th. Ate about 10 plates of noodles, meat and hot chips. Washed it down with a beer to recover from yesterday.
Went to the driving range in the afternoon and smached the crap out of the driver for an hour.
Sat on lounge watching the cricket as warmdown.
44 Days to go - the wedding
Today i prepared by going to a Cambodian wedding.
I ate sweets all morning and for lunch i think i ate a whole BBQ duck and half a pig. Washed it down with a couple of beers.
I went to the driving range feeling confident and shanked 65 balls into the wind. Feeling Good!
Then onto the wedding reception where i ate a 10 course meal and drank too much beer.
Preperation on track still!
45 Days to Go - Daily Countdown begins!
OK into the offical countdown now. I will start logging my daily preparation steps for the torture of playing 72 Holes in one day (Approx 15 Hours).
We have tee'd off
Welcome to the Hacking Hicks Boys fundraising page for the cancer council, Steve and I are building a team to play 4 rounds of golf in a single day. If you want to join our team please contact us.
For those who know us well, will know that like many other Australians Steve has had several Melanoma’s cut off in the past few years.
We have decided to fundraise to assist research and treatment for people who are not as lucky as Steve in their diagnosis and outcomes.
We are currently devising some rules to help us raise money during the round:
1. Fines and Bonuses for good and bad things during the round.
2. Novelty Bets such as Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive
3. Results Bets per round.
If you donate $20 to our team we will allow you to submit a challenge for us to complete during the day. (anything that doesn’t cause damage or etiquette issues on the golf course)
We will hopefully have time during the day to post some updates and videos as we go.
Steve and Brett Hicks
We’re taking on Cancer Council’s The Longest Day...
...the ultimate golfing challenge to complete four rounds of golf in one day. That’s 72 holes!
We’ll be testing our skill, strength and stamina to raise funds for Cancer Council.
Because Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with two in three Australians diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70 and we want to help change this.
Please sponsor our team today, to make every hole count!
Thank you for your generous donation. Together, let’s tee off for a cancer free future.
