I'm taking on Cancer Council's The Longest Day...
...the ultimate golf challenge to complete four rounds of golf in one day. That's 72 holes!
I'll be testing my skill, strength, and stamina to raise funds for Cancer Council.
I attempted the challenge 2 years ago in a team led by a very good friend, Jonny Branagh. Jonny had been diagnosed with Colon Cancer a year or so earlier and he led the fundraiser with great enthusiasm, we raised over $12,000.
The day we chose to play the golf ended up being the hottest Melbourne had to offer that year (at 42c) and, reluctantly, we had to abandon it after 36 holes because the course was forced to close.
Unruffled, Jonny returned to the course 2 weeks later and completed the 72 holes single handedly to honour our sponsors.
Sadly, we lost JB earlier this year - although I feel his spirit is now crafting his soft hybrid draw into a closely guarded green on a tricky links somewhere else.
My motivation is thus driven by finally completing the 72, with 3 other great friends and the cheeky energy of JB pushing us on.
We appreciate any support we can get for the day and are offering a shared 'toot' to anyone in the area of Woodlands Golf Club on Friday 17th December who cares to assist.
Thank you for your generous donation. Together, let's tee off for a cancer free future.
Thank you to my Sponsors
